This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay

So I know this post isn’t technically about lifestyle medicine, but it is about the lifestyle of a medic!
I’ve finally got round to finishing this incredible book and if I had to sum it up in one word I would say it’s ‘honest’. What’s so special is it highlights both the positive side of the job, and the bad, giving it a true representation of what it is like to be a junior doctor in the current NHS.
I honestly feel anyone who wants to use, work in or criticise the NHS should read this book.
I have never read a book that resonated so much with my life on the wards as a junior doctor.
Adam Kay was evidently a great doctor, and sacrificed so much to be one. It really is a shame that, as he finished his book mentioning, there really are so many gaps in the rota from doctors activating their ‘Plan B’.
